Instructional Equipment and Materials


After we help you discover what you want, we'll work together to find the very best way of achieving it. 

Wind Energy and Plumbing courses will be taught in the Thompson Learning Center. Labs, which will include all the equipment necessary for teaching and practice, will be included in basement classrooms of building.

Wind Energy


The wind turbine classroom will include electrical and hydraulic equipment to teach the basics of wind energy. A climbing tower will be constructed to teach climbing and safety skills.

Plumbing


The plumbing classroom will be set up in stations, where students can learn and practice plumbing skills. Water and drainage will be available at each station. Students will have access to piping, joints, equipment needs to install sinks, toilets and water heaters. Students will purchase their own plumbing tools. The list will include: channel type pliers, adjustable pipe wrench, tubing cutter, faucet valve-seat wrench, flounge and/or cup plunger, toilet and sink auger, hammer, set of screw drivers, faucet packing, washers and o rings, plumber’s tape, gloves, steel-toed boots. These tools and supplies are available for under $200.

Welding


A welding course will be taught as part of the plumbing program. It will be taught in a separate, fire-proof building which is about 900 square feet. All equipment needed for teaching and practice will be located in the building. Students may be required to buy personal protective equipment for the welding course. The equipment for teaching welding will include:

 ● 4-1/2" and 9" grinders 13

● A midsized tig/stick welder (300A)

● A mig welder with a pulse option, for doing stainless work. Possibly a Miller 350p pulse welder, for doing short arc welding, aluminum welding, plumbing and fabrication, farm and ranch work, maintenance and repair.

● Stick welding equipment for outdoors

● Acetylene cutting torches and an oxy fuel cutting torch using oxy propane

 ● Separate storage for tri-mix gas, oxy propane, and other flammable materials

● Bending and laser profile cutting equipment. Rollers, both plate and ring + tube bending

● Lathe for fabrication

● A horizontal mitering band saw and a stock rack

 ● Protection equipment for each student including welding helmets, gloves, etc.

● Supplies Instructional equipment and materials will be purchased from fees and remain part of the School inventory.
