Admission Policy

Admission requirements at Tarkio Technology Institute are listed within this section. Enrollment is open to all academically qualified individuals regardless of age, sex, ethnicity, nationality, disability, gender identity or sexual orientation. Applications for admission should be submitted well in advance of the desired entry date. Applicants are encouraged to apply at least 6-8 weeks prior to the semester of attendance.

This will allow adequate time to process application materials, meet with an advisor to schedule classes, and register for classes. All registration for classes is held at Tarkio Technology Institute. Early application is encouraged for all programs. Registration steps are outlined in this section:

All students must submit an application for admission prior to registration for a certificate or diploma program. Students may apply online or in person.

Students must apply for admission for certificate or diploma programs. Students must have a high school diploma or have completed a high school equivalency test to be admitted to a certificate or diploma program. Refer to the program area and/or call an advisor/counselor to inquire about requirements of the program.

Students may register for individual classes or courses, subject to course availability and space in classes, without admission to a certificate or diploma program. Students taking individual courses or college preparation courses are not required to have a high school diploma or have completed a high school equivalency test.

Individuals applying for financial aid or scholarships must be admitted to a certificate or diploma program. Students in college preparation or individual courses are not eligible for assistance.

Late enrollments are accepted in some classes through the first week of class, subject to space availability and approval of the course instructor.

Students enrolled in a school program prior to the current term who have interrupted their training will be registered as new students. When possible, every effort will be made to permit re-enrollment to enable completion of the program.

All financial obligations to Tarkio Technology Institute from previous terms must be paid in full prior to continuing enrollment or re-admittance. Payment for classes is due at the time of registration unless arrangements are made for delayed payments.

The school does not require a physical examination as a general condition of admission but reserves the right to require evidence of good health in individual instances for programs that may require physical exertion.

When program competencies have been met, a certificate or diploma will be granted. Students may take additional courses beyond the program requirements.

A student who is enrolled for 9 or more credits (3 courses) per semester is considered to be a full-time student.
