The Computer Information Technology (CIT) program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to assemble, install, operate, maintain, and repair computers and related 15 instruments. Includes instruction in power supplies, number systems, memory structure, buffers and registers, microprocessor design, peripheral equipment, programming, and networking. This concise applied science program will prepare students to step into an important role by combining a broad range of computer-related courses with practical skills training.
The Computer Information Technology (CIT) certificate is awarded after two semesters. In the first semester, the student takes courses leading to a Computer Repair and Maintenance Certificate. The second semester builds upon the first semester, adding courses in information technology. To receive a Computer Information Technology certificate students must successfully pass courses from both semesters. Both semesters prepare graduates for positions as hardware and software support technicians with organizations that use computers to design, process, manage, communicate, and secure information.
Students are required to bring their own PC laptop (Intel Core i7 or comparable, 12GB memory, 500 GB SSD) and storage devices.
Currently apple products cannot be used for our CIT courses.
Course work includes development of a student's ability to communicate and solve technical issues related to information technology hardware and software support and services.
Graduates qualify for employment in entry-level positions with businesses, educational systems, and governmental agencies which rely on computer systems to design and manage information. The program will incorporate the competencies of industry-recognized certification exams.

Students may take any individual course without being in a computer information technology program as long as they meet the course prerequisites, have the instructor’s permission, and space is available in the class.
